HEROs+ at The Molineux Stadium, October 25th 2018 (Gallery)

The day was great, and helped me to become a better friend and a better peer supporter. I can’t wait to use what I’ve learned in my role back at school.

Young people from secondary schools around the city attended The Molineux on Thursday for an all-day HEROs + peer mentoring training day. The young people were also privileged to get a guided tour of the stadium!

The training supported the young people in understanding the ‘SIX STEPS TO BECOMING A PEER SUPPORTER’:

  • CONTACT - Building relationships with peers who you identify or are identified as needing support, also introducing yourself and role.

  • UNDERSTAND/ASSESS - To assess the situation and identify if you need to refer or share with staff. To decide what type of support you think is best.

  • SUPPORT/ SHARE - To raise awareness of ethics and confidentiality and how this underpins and supports their roles as peer supporters

  • RESOLVE / END?- To understand how to end a peer support relationship, either by referring on to others or enabling the young person to support themselves.
