'5 Alive Summer Fun' Film-making week with Gazebo Theatre!

Gazebo Theatre is our lead commissioned provider for ongoing programmes with young people and families in Bilston East. Their programme with young people over the summer is called '5 Alive Summer Fun', and last week the focus was film-making, with the group working with video professionals to plan, script, shoot and edit films based around the HeadStart objectives of:

  • raising awareness of mental health issues
  • supporting the wellbeing and resilience of 10-16 year olds and their families

Look out for their finished films soon! To find out more about the programme, visit this page in our 'What's On?' Guide:

Quotes from the young people:

I really liked learning how important the sound person is and that you have to work with the director and camera person. I felt part of a team to make the film work.
— Lisa
It’s hard work but I learned a lot in the end. Sometimes you have to shoot things more than once to get it right. Trying and trying again, but don’t give up!
— Nav
It taught me how important it is to listen to instructions.
— Faith
Today I learned a new skill, it was wicked. I’ve never done filming before.
— Sophie
