Getting Ahead is one of HeadStart’s targeted interventions to build emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience, and today we’re joining you live from Panteinion Hall and nearby Fairbourne. Selected young people from Wolverhampton primary schools SS Mary and John, and St. Teresa’s, on the second day of their three day HeadStart residential, are working with HeadStart on a wide range of activities to build confidence, teamwork and communication skills.
Yesterday, the young people had participated in a range of digital activities, including digital orienteering with QR codes, and being introduced to their digital journals.
Today, the focus is on new experiences: pony trekking, beach play and team building, and kite building and flying at sunset! As the day goes on, I’ll be sharing photos, audio and video from the activities, via the wonder of mobile technology!
9:49am - Preparing for Pony trekking
10:45am - On the trail
11:20am - Back at the stables
11:30am - On the beach!
Creative challenge - building stone sculptures

High tide at the moment, but the sand will be appearing soon!

12:15 - Lunch

1pm - Beach games
We have sand!

For a number of the young people, this is their first experience of the beach. Today is a beautiful day to experience it for the first time!

3pm - Back to Panteinion Hall for a change of clothes and some kite building
We’re heading back to the beach for some sunset kite-building later!

6:30pm - Back to the beach to fly their kites

What a fantastic day of new experiences and new friendships!
More media coming soon, including quotes, additional video footage and more.
